Have you ever wanted to help your community but weren’t sure where to put your time, energy and talents? Here’s your chance.
The Mexico Food Pantry begins its Food Fund Campaign Oct. 1 and we need your help.
As a food pantry, we help hundreds of people and provide thousands of meals each year to folks right here in our community. But it requires tremendous support to sustain our effort.
Just this year we have had to step away from our annual Thanksgiving baskets because of the cost and focus on our main program.
Donation envelopes will be available and circulating through the community. Can’t find the time to help? Send us a donation and we’ll make it go farther and help more people in need.
To donate or find out about volunteering, contact 315-963-3117.
The Mexico Food Pantry is changing its days and hours of operation.
Effective Tuesday Oct. 1, the food pantry will be open Mondays, 1-3 p.m.; Tuesdays, 3-5 p.m.; and Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m. We will no longer be open on Fridays.
The pantry will still be available by appointment and in emergencies, but our new schedule is geared toward offering our clients a wider range of hours.
Thank you for your understanding.
A new store in our community has made a contribution to the Mexico Food Pantry.
TOPS, which recently opened in the former Mexico Big M, donated $500 each to the food pantry and several other community groups at an event at the store on Saturday Sept. 21.
The food pantry also provided fresh popcorn at the event to those who made donations.
Thank you to TOPS for their support and to Joe Stewart and Bill Van Patton for manning our table and popping a lot of popcorn.
The money has been counted and the Mexico Food Pantry's recent fundraiser was one of the most successful in recent memory.
The pantry partnered with The Bake Shop Eatery, in Mexico, at the end of November for a unique fundraising effort. For an entire day, 15 percent of all the money spent on food was donated to the pantry. That works out to nearly $250.
We would like to thank the dozens of people in the community who stopped by for some food and helped support the pantry. Without your help, we could not continue to operate.
The Mexico Food Pantry's hours are Monday and Fridays 1-3pm and Wednesdays 5-7pm.
